Sand and Sorrow

presented by
Living Ubuntu
San Diego Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis

In Sand and Sorrow, director Paul Freedman follows John Prendergast, Samantha Power and Nicholas Kristof (of the New York Times) as they explore the tragedy of the genocide in Sudan. They journey through refugee camps on the Chad-Sudan border, visit mass graves inside Darfur itself and even travel to the U.S. Senate to speak on behalf of the innocent dead.

While analyzing the historical events that have given rise to an Arab-dominated government's willingness to kill and displace its own indigenous African people, the documentary also examines the international community's “legacy of failure” to respond to such profound crimes against humanity in the past.  Senators Barack Obama and Sam Brownback are interviewed as is Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel and many others.  Narrated by George Clooney.

Living Ubuntu and SDIBA are presenting this screening as an addendum to
