In these challenging times, many of us experience loss, grief and heartbreak. Individual, community, or global stressors can all be very upsetting. Yet, sometimes we fail to recognize how much life’s disappointments have taken a toll on us even as our bodies hold the stories.  With pain in our heart, a bottomless feeling in the pit of our stomach, or a sense of collapse in our body, it can be difficult to know what to do.

• What does it mean when it keeps hurting?
• Why do some people move on more easily than others?
• How can we deal better with painful losses, in order to carry on?

In this workshop we will explore the nature of heartbreak and help participants recover from this pain.

Vincentia Schroeter, PhD. is a licensed psychotherapist in private practice for over 30 years working with individuals and families struggling with issues related to grief, trauma, adoption, infertility, marriage counseling and addiction. The challenges involved in effectively expressing grief and heartbreak are of particular interest to Vincentia. She has experienced the painful devastation of losses in her own life as well as the transformative power of learning to cope with them.

I believe that even when lost in struggle or pain, people are still motivated to grow.

Vincentia received her PhD in 1999, completing research on attachment between mothers and babies. She holds a Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of San Francisco, received in 1975.  She is a senior faculty member at the International Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis and is on the Board of Directors and a coordinating trainer for SCIBA.

Why do some people tend to “get over it” more easily than others?  What can be done to work through pain so that one can carry on? As a teacher, Vincentia brings enthusiasm and respect for each person’s process. The workshop will address heartbreak in a somatic and experiential format in order to help release blocked emotions that are often the root of the problem.
