Expanding the Circle of Compassion

City of Lost Children: A talk with Kent Treptow

Hi everyone,

I hope you had a great holiday.  I got back from Costa Rica last week and am just getting back in the flow of things.

During the course of our Darfur campaign, we’ve had a lot of coverage from the Daily Pilot, our local paper that covers Newport Beach and Costa Mesa.  Kent Treptow, a photographer for the newspaper covered both our beach photoshoots (Enough and End Genocide Now).

What I didn’t know is that Kent traveled to Mongolia last year on his own accord.  And photographed street children who take cover under manholes to survive the extreme Siberian cold.

“They rummage through trash for scraps of food. Many are malnourished or sick from eating bad meat. Others, as young as 7, drink… But they also sing, laugh, look out for each other and fight with remarkable resilience and resourcefulness to live to see another day.”

He has agreed to show us his photographs from his visit.  He will give a brief presentation on Thursday, January 29th at Irvine United Congregational Church.  Click here for more information.

I hope you will be able to attend.
